My wife quit working when we had our kids so we've always used my insurance for everything. She recently got a decent job and has insurance of her own now. Can we double dip on coverages? Like we just had eye exams and hers covers a little and mine covers a little. Can we submit to both policies? I'm sure this is a dumb question but never had this problem before.

depends on what your premiums are at work but sometimes a good health policy for the kids can be bought cheaper on your own

you just have to notify both carriers of the coverage so they can coordinate benefits

    In before the "obamacare" flamefest.

But if your state already has a decent program you should really check that out for the kids.

yes. your insurance will be primary for you, and your wife's will be secondary for you. not exactly double-dipping, but more likely to cover everything.

It's actually the same company. I told my wife there was no way we could use both and would probably need to pick one or the other but she thinks that's not correct. I'm thinking about just sending it to both and seeing what happens.

If you're paying for two policies, this.

For the kids, there's something called the birthday rule. I don't know what it is but look into it.

And seriously, your health care provider should submit to primary, secondary, THEN bill you if need be.

you can do that, but you still have note that there is another policy in effect. They may be the same company, but they don't coordinate benefits unless told to do so.

It is also illegal to get paid more than 100% for a claim or service
