I spent a lot of time in book stores as a uni student , reading and mingling about ; you ?
You went to the University of Northern Iowa? Cedar Falls is a pretty cool town.

I hated bookstores with chairs and tables. Buy the book and go home
I do, Czech. It was a Saturday afternoon tradition for me. More magazines, then books for me though.
As a kid in the 80s my crew and I would spend hours reading the import Rock and Punk magazines at Tower Records
Also, Shopping Malls of the 80s and 90s had Waldenbooks and B.Dalton bookstores. We'd go in there and laugh at the adult section with books like the Joy of Sex, etc and thought it was a laugh riot.

Ann Arbor undergrad in the mid/late 80's - bookstore vibes intense.
Berkeley postgrad in the early 90's - bookstore vibes insanely eclectic.
Grew up in Chicago - good ones there as well. Too many gone today 'cause the rent is too damn high! A real shame for someone like me. Time moves on...
