The kid has been taking lessons for a while now and he's a fucking stud. I need to get him a real kit but don't know shit about shit. He's 12 now so one of those first act kits ain't gonna cut it. I keep seeing these "CB" kits around for decent prices but never heard of them. I'm not buying DW for a 12 year old who may give up in a year. What's up with the CB's???

I was at an estate sale the other day and saw a set. You might check craigslist and newspaper ads for estate sales and garage sales.

I have been playing for over 30 years...CB's are crap...dw's are the best ( that is what I play) but not for a 12 year old...I would recommend an entry level kit from Tama, pearl, or ddrum...I like the pearl hardware the best but I like tamas better for the sound...

This is actually a great idea...check out Craig's list...you can get something really good at a pretty good price...a lot of kids think they want an instrument and then realize they would just rather play rock band

$17 a lesson. He's gone through 3 teachers already. The first one was like "he really doesn't need my help" :jj:

I'm finding shitloads of CB sets in my price range on CL. That probably says a lot right there.
