    Hi all,

I was talking to Nerd last night and I brought up those Azteca Taco Shell bowls that you get from the supermarket and it made me remember how I like making what I made tonight for dinner and how I haven't had it in a long time. It turned out great and I want to thank Nerd for indirectly making me remember these...

    On Tonight's Menu:

Taco Salad - Taco Shell Bowl, Seasoned Ground Beef, Sharp Cheddar, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato, and French Dressing...

...and a song that's a bit more abstract than most people prefer around here, but nonetheless I share my dinner with Dawg's and I share the music that I like. Its the band Swans with the track "My Birth":

Feel free to talk about your food or your music. Or make fun of the French Dressing thing(try it once, its delicious).

Hope all is well with everyone. Thank you blairg for the kind words in my rep box thing. Your message warmed the depths of my heart. Take care, everyone! :toptip:

Had Taco Salad the other day. I love it. So easy to make. Typically use mild cheddar instead of sharp.

Today I had some really killer beef stew. The envelope was pushed with the amount of cayenne, but it wound up tasting great.

We also made some pesto Mozzarella stuffed mushrooms. Amazing

Today I have listened to a lot of ESPN radio, along with

High Energry Live electronica. Based out of Canada

    Thank you, sir! :toptip:

You can't really beat some grilled chicken and a potato, simple, healthy, well-balanced to the point.

That does sound excellent, I need to make some stuffed mushrooms pretty soon.

I've never been a huge fan of the Dead, but I've listened to "American Beauty" hundreds of times since I was a teenager. I'm sure most Deadheads would scoff at me for saying that, but every song on that album is excellent.

(also, I loved the "Touch of Grey" video when I was a child, because I thought the skeletons were really cool...I guess I was born this way. :) )

I already saw your message when you repped me earlier.

You can't beat the Azteca ones, they're really flaky and have a good flavor(I'm guessing because they're loaded with lard).

I'll take what I can get as far as you're concerned, sir! :c :cheer:

I remember making those bowls for my family when I was around 11 or 12. I must of got the recipe out of a magazine or something. I was so proud of myself... using oil very carefully.

Hey Francisco, just curious, are you a self-taught chef or do you have professional training? I wish I lived with you to enjoy this bounty! :)

Agreed! I'm no Deadhead, but American Beauty and Workingman's Dead are great albums. Also agree that Touch Of Grey is a great song.

Anyway, taco salad is a fine thing, and the French dressing intrigues me. I've been building up a craving for Tex-Mex I'm gonna have to satiate pretty soon. I make decent tacos, and darn good fajitas, but for Messican food I like to spend a little more and get the El Gordo Attacka-De-Corazon Especial at a decent restaurant, with a giant Messican Shrimp Cocktail for an appetizer.... Unfortunately, I just can't put it away like when I was younger, though. And I'm snobbish; my #1 criterion for TexMex is: are the chips and salsa and pico fresh and handmade. If that is covered, everything else usually falls into place. And I like the authentic food, too, it's very different... but I despise "Californiaized" versions, like tofu tacos with guava or some shit like that...

No musica yet this 'een, maybe later.

This was my bible before I was old enough to get a job in a kitchen. You can't count how many times I attempted souffles and popovers based on the recipes here...

I've made 85 percent of the recipes in the edition of it from the early 1970's.

DrivenByDemons asked me last night about my culinary background, so I'll just copy and paste what I wrote to him...

The taco salad from tonight and the French dressing were intended to make a very Americanized version. I even used an Old El Paso seasoning packet for the beef and Kraft shredded sharp cheddar for the cheese. I was going for a certain vibe.

If anyone knows that I can throw it down with the authentic Mexican food, its you Mark....
