Ariens 24" with a 306cc engine (10-ish horsepower).

It has plenty of power to blast the heavy slush that snowplows leave at the end of the driveway well out of the way. All of the controls are easy to use while gloved up and conveniently placed on the "dash". It steers easily since the axle has a car style "posi" like differential. The impeller is huge so it throws snow a solid distance. Comes with heated handgrips and a headlight which are both almost useless features. Overall seems to be a great stoutly built machine that should last me a long time.
I would have preferred to spend the cash on "go fast" parts for my car but my last snowblower ejected snow like it had a prostate problem and wasn't worth fixing.
I looked at larger models but this one is great for a winding sidewalk we have and it's strong enough to make quick work of deep snow.
How much, bro?
I bought almost the same one 3 years ago. Choke it, prime it 3 times, and it will start on the first pull every time. It starts so easily, I don't use the electric start
Honestly anything I looked at that was less than $1k didn't seem like it would last long. I don't mind plastic but most of them had flimsy plastic where I wouldn't trust it to hold up. Or they were 30" units with a 6hp motor and tiny wheels. Just not well thought out.
East of California people's problems
Enjoy your forest fires, earthquakes, inflated housing market, droughts, mexicans, gun laws and hip replacements.
yeah all of those are really not worth perfect weather 365 days a year.
I never use the electric start. With proper maintenance it should fire up easily forever. The "easy steer" feature is the shit! My last one was smaller in overall size but a major PITA to move around with the wheels locked together. Maneuvering this thing is a piece if cake.
Same one I have, best one I've ever had
It's all a trade off. I'd live at the base of the mountains of SC anyday before going anywhere near California. Where I live somewhat sucks but fuck California......the only place I'd pick after it would be Florida.
very rare is the person who moves to southern California, dislikes it, and leaves. much of the distaste people have comes from ignorance in my opinion. each to their own though.
Does the Blower swallow ???
I'm sure it has it's charms. I remember posting a pic of my previous log house and 5.17 acres and folks from California couldn't believe it was "only" $215k......I guess you couldn't touch it for 5 times that in your area.
I'm a civil servant rockhead and am not an earner that can afford that lifestyle.
