+1 and it's not really even close.

although I did take umbridge (sic?) with the Pope jokes and other stuff at times. But his rapport with Artie at times was the best radio going.

Gilbert, mark harris, Johnny "mud" mudman, Richard simmons, Jackie Stallone all great guests. I'm sure I'm missing some.

Mark was a top ten guest....maybe top five.

For my miserable view is worth I don't think anyone was ever better than Sam Kinnison. After Sam I'd have to say Gilbert holds the #2 stop. Mark Harris could easily be up there with Tiny Tim for #3.

gilbert is #1 really for non-wack pack type guests, i would put mark harris as a wack packer for sure

Richard was AMAZING back then. It is kind of nuts that no one (including Howard) figured out a way to tap into that depth of crazy/hidden gay/fat diet guru and make a fortune.

the story about ruining his fancy dinner party with chuck norris is also hysterical. kinda funny now knowing that chuck is such a christian fundamentalist type guy i cant imagine what he made of simmons flouncing around the place

As with Beet/ETM/JTD/HPE/Riley, I more or less could listen to Mark Harris talk for hours due to his delusional nature (sense of self-importance).

It's like rubbernecking the aftermath of a car crash for hours as opposed to a fleeting glance.

(And guests used to be able to talk at length before Hmus developed his cutting-everyone-off "interview style".)

Sam Kinison was a great guest as long as he was sober enough. Pat Cooper was great.

I really liked Jim Breuer the first few times he came in, but his appearances were the same thing over and over again after a while.

Chuck always came off as a pretty decent laid back guy who just happened to be able to kick anyone's ass if needed.

Pat another guy in the top five/ten. Show was so packed full of unreal entertainment back then it is hard to parse out credit. I have never been as entertained by anything as much as I was by 84-early 90s Howard.

That is why we all hate him so much now. We know what he was and how he just tossed it away.
