Extending the discussion from the Robert Blake thread, who watched this in perpetual 70s reruns? Miss Crabtree? Buckwheat? Spanky, Alfalfa, etc.

When I was little, I named my pet hamster after Darla. My parents told me she ran away, but now I'm not so sure... :bigthink

I refuse to watch anything in black and white. Unless "To Kill a Mockingbird" is in black and white. I don't remember.

We were watching face off on syfy and one of the contestants was named Darla. I thought she even looked like alfalfa's Darla. So I searched for little rascals darla.

Don't remember which episode I watched but it was just as I remembered it.

Mine were, in no particular order:

    Stymie
    [IMG]

The young (pre or very early Alfalfa pairing) Spanky
    [IMG]

Dickie Moore (and Petey the Pup)

Dorothy (she did the BEST double takes!)

    Farina
    [IMG]

    Brisbane
    [IMG]

    Tommy/Butch
    [IMG]

    Couldn't stand:
    Froggy
    Mickey Gubitosi "Robert Blake"
    Woim
Porky (I always thought he was slightly retarded)
Buckwheat (ditto + a walking, negative stereotype)

I grew up on them. Unfortunately, when political correctness started to gain power they stopped showing some of them on TV. Luckily, someone got the brilliant idea in the late '70s to show them in theaters with a bunch of other cool stuff (racist Warner Bros, cartoons, blooper reels, etc) at Midnight Showings.

The one that got the biggest laughs was The Kid From Borneo. "Yum-Yum eatum up!"

When I was little, I didn't see the 'racism.' I saw little kids, black & white, playing together...
