There are 2 types of dog parks here: Off leash, which are separate designated enclosed areas for small, medium and big dogs.

On leash. These are the regular parks where everyone comes, they have swings and stuff for kids, and many people walk their dogs. Why are there always a few assholes who don't think their dogs need to be on a leash?

Years ago these people would have had kids to humble them. Now they just get dogs and continue to be fucking assholes.

The dogs have more smarts than some of the owners.

WHEN I first got my dog from the pound I used to take him to a dog park. But the people are total assholes and very cliquey.

I used to take my dog to a state park dog park that was legit the Wild West. Off leash, on leash, size and breed didn't matter, they were all free to run around together, and no one gaf. You basically accepted the consequences if your dog got hurt the second you walked in.

Anyway, my dog is big and intimidating looking, deep bark, tall, heavy, especially for a lab. But he's the sweetest guy ever, so I never kept him on a leash when I'd take him there and we never had a problem. All the other dogs were just there to do their own thing.

Until one day, up ahead of us came a gaggle of rescue women and their mongrel rescues who had very clearly formed a pack and were flexin' on everything and everyone they passed. One of the dogs muzzle punted a gd shitzu ffs.

I tried to grab my dog to leash him when this pack of 6 fuckers jumped him. He held his own and posted up, but those cunts had the nerve to side eye ME and my dog for their rescues being troubled dicks. Rotties, pitties, a shepherd, a couple mixed breed labs. All assholes. We never went back after that.

I get really angry when I can tell your dog isn't trained. But there are several breeds that are just dumb as dirt and untrainable. Use goodies to train them. It's the owners fault for not having trained their dawg. I've been victimized by these idiots. Having dobermann's people love to blame me when their stupid dog attacks.
My 3 dogs were attacked by 2 long coated dashunds. My dogs did nothing but the owner said my dogs provoked the attack. I can watch you and your doge for a few minutes and tell where your training cap is.

I love to take my dogs to the beach and there's always some scary ass hole there.

I blame the stupid owners for ruining it. I can tell everybody is scared of 3 dobes so I stay in control.

That can be true. So many people just sit around staring at their smart phones and don't use the time to socialize their dog.

I stay out of dog parks. They are too unpredictable. We have a nice yard and my dogs play there. Other dogs, you don't know if they have diseases, or what sets them off, and owners don't always have control. Last time I went to a large dog park here I almost had a stroke.

I take my dog to dog beach and sometimes people will bring their aggressive dogs. If you have an aggressive, big dog they should never be off leash. How do people not understand that? image.jpeg

Our backyard is our dog's little kingdom. Its boundaries make him happy and that's good enough for him and us. Thank you.

On leash is good stuff. It protects all the dogs.

I'm glad you feel so strongly about training your dogs. I don't necessarily agree with you. I don't want a highly trained dog. I want my dog to be a dog, although it isn't they type that anyone would confuse with an attack dog like yours. (All the dobies I've ever known would lick you to death.) The problems you described don't sound like untrained dogs, they sound more like untrained humans that don't use proper etiquette around other dogs.

So are people. Difference is most dogs can't help it or were not trained correctly.

Most people that are like that don't care and are usually the reason for a 911 call :giggle:

One guy's big dog (that is never on a leash) attacked a smaller dog at the ON LEASH park this morning and that is what prompted this thread. We were far away, but I could hear the screaming of the people, then the crying/screaming of the smaller dog. It was just horrible. Don't know what happened.
