A huge percentage never return your phone calls to begin with - hey genius, I'm trying to give you business. Money which you can use to buy things.

A huge percentage never start or complete the job on time, always over promising, always some bullshit issue with "waiting for my supplier to get more in... I hope to get it finished by next week" and "oh, that's extra, my quote didn't include the such-and-such".

    Drives me fucking crazy.

They know they have you by the balls. Learn to do the work yourself.... At least you'll be the only asshole to blame.

    never happen

    unrealistic reply

I'm talking home improvement like having a bathroom remodeled, not installing a ceiling fan.

Bullshit. You can do it. The only issues arise if you're moving plumbing or electrical. 100% you can do the demo, laying tile and sheetrock is easy. Even then, you can do some of the plumbing and electric yourself.

If I saw your face I would back away and not return your calls, either. You look like that guy who put billiard balls in his mouth.

I think the answer is to hire from Home Depot

even if you pay more, you at least know that they can't get away with as much of their bullshit as usual because you have the ability complain to someone at the store who'll do something. if enough customers complain, they could even lose their home depot contract which gives them an incentive to minimize their bullshit games they all insist on playing with us

nah i am just waiting until my husband gets home. We put our own floor in anyway. It was from IKEA and 25-year warranty my asssssssssssss. This stuff is harrible, even before a huge leak springs up. It will be a good excuse to have a professional floor put in.

Yea, something about water, right. Was it a leaking pipe joint ? If the wood under the floor swells it's water and time to rip up the plywood. It's actually a good to swap it out for cement board. Better life, won't sop up water and etc ....

The illegals who put in my mom's bathroom floors were from Home Depot and they didn't mix the boxes of tiles before putting them in and you can totally see where they started on a new box.

Fuck yeah, I am adding 3 rooms on, new roof, bigger fence for my dogs to be able to run in the yard, new floors, remodel of kitchen and bathrooms and some other stuff. About a month and a half in to it and not one thing is done, they start one thing and get it half done and start on another leaving the other stuff.

160K doesn't get people off their ass like it use to I guess.

    I really don't understand it

either they are total, total, total fucking idiots or ... perhaps, their business is so lucrative and profitable, they can arrogantly turn away business and piss off customers and potential customers left and right

I'm not a rocket scientist but I rarely hire out work. I don't trust others to do the work right and dealing with crews is a PITA. A bathroom remodel is a great project to learn how to do stuff around the house especially if you have a second bathroom to use during the project. The money saved from hiring a contractor can score you some nice tools that you can use on future projects as well.

Unless you are lazy and/or can't read there is no reason not to give it a shot. Buy a book and take a few of those DIY instruction "classes" at Home Depot/Lowes and get your hands dirty. The satisfaction of finishing the project yourself and saving some $$$$ is well worth it.
