    I heard it come on the oldies station and it sounded cheesy to me. The I couldn't relate to the lyrics about his youth. I guess it was just how they did things in the 80's back then.

    Bryan Adams was only 11 in 1969. As he's often said in interviews, the song is not about the year 1969.

    That kind of narrows it down to what the song's really about, doesn't it?

    His cowriter debunks that. Says it is about the Summer of 1969. They were playing off the movie "Summer of 42".
