    I like the store, bought a bunch of electronics and appliances there over the years, but I guess I'm in the minority.

    [h=1]Best Buy profit drops 90%, misses estimates[/h]
    Associated Press AP August 21, 2012, 6:16 a.m.

    Best Buy Co.is reporting a 90 percent drop in net income during the second quarter, dragged down by restructuring charges and weak sales. The company also withdrew its earnings guidance for the year.

    Best Buy has struggled with weak sales since the middle of the recession as its big-box stores have become outdated. It's also contending with changing buyer habits. The stores, which shoppers once flocked to for low-priced music, movies and electronics, are becoming unprofitable as customers increasingly use them to browse for electronics, but then buy them cheaper elsewhere.

    havne't been many must have electronic devices lately other than cell phones and tablets and most people just get them from the Apple Store or phone stores.

    If you're looking to buy a refrigerator with 18 months no interest, free delivery, decent price, etc. I don't see where Best Buy isn't just as good as anywhere else.

    When I first moved to the area, I tried to purchase a television and they wouldn't take my check. It wasn't because there was no funding. They were able to check and see if there was funding. Their policy was to not accept checks from people with new checking accounts. I forget the entire details but I didn't have my debit card yet and refused to use a credit card. I've been back a few time since then but it's been 11 years and I still go everywhere else first before checking with BB.

    I also find that their prices are generally higher if I can find the identical item elsewhere.

    I've bought my appliances at Home Depot and Lowes. I do a great deal of research and BB has never had a lower price or better deal on any appliance I was looking for.

    Bad prices, poor inventory, weird store layouts, inexperieced employees...what isn't there to like?

    Here's a hint to Best Buy: if the term "best buy" is your name, you better make sure you're the "best buy" around.

    Wal Mart's electronics dept has to be killing BB. They carry good TVs there now and have for quite a while.

    Yup, they should just change their name to "Sort Of OK Buy For People Who Don't Have A Credit Card Or Know How To Shop Online"

    I used to love Best Buy. I'm a home video nut, gadget fan, video game player, etc. They were right up my alley. Recently I was completely and utterly screwed over for months on a broken laptop. The complete ineptitude and lack of knowledge by almost EVERY employee and manager was laughable. The no longer repair anything themselves, so the warranty the sell becomes a red tape cluttered middle man. They send a broken item to THEIR facility in Kentucky, that inspects is, then sends it out to get fixed elsewhere at times.

    The do have great prices on certain things, but as far as buying TVs, movies, audio equipment or things like that, they offer WAY less than what you can find online.
