This is from an actual friend of mine from this morning. I could have died this morning; Thank You xxxxx Police Department! I woke up to my dog going nuts and I thought that it was just a squirrel or something in the back yard; much to my surprise I saw a young man on my back deck. The only way that he could be there was through a locked gate. I went back and grabbed my pistol and confronted him and a second young man....one at each door on that end of the house. Fortunately the doors were locked. Apparently surprised by seeing an old white guy with no clothes on holding a .38 in their face ordering them to the ground, they surrendered a Glock .45 & a sawed off 12 gauge, both loaded...which I pulled into the house. Then I found out that they had dropped off a stolen car in my back yard. Apparently they were on the run from having taken the car at gunpoint from a couple in a nearby hotel room. My wife was on the phone to 911 and as they were disarmed but not on the ground; when they guessed that the police were on their way and started to get panicky, I pointed towards the woods and told them to get out of my yard. They had to cross the creek and get through 50 feet of blackberries, which must have slowed them down. I was outside with an officer when we saw them on the roof of a motorhome parked in a storage unit they had hopped a barbed wire fence to get into. The police got them both and I'm sure that they are in jail now. I don't consider myself a "Gun Nut" and I don't think a lot of people wandering around packin' heat. On the other hand, if I had not had a gun on them first, I'm sure that they would have had their guns on us stolen one of our cars, and it would have been a toss-up if they would have let us live. Thank you again, xxxx Police.
