Will Tiger Woods Play The Masters? Notah Begay Says It's 50-50

Close Friend of Tiger Woods Says He's '50/50' For Masters
In an interview with 120Sports, Tiger Woods' friend and former Stanford teammate Notah Begay said the four-time champ has made steady improvement and is much more likely to tee it up at Augusta than previously thought.

The chances we see Tiger Woods at the 2015 Masters are rapidly increasing.

In an inteview with 120 Sports, Golf Channel analyst Notah Begay III said Woods has a "50-50" chance the 14-time major winner will play in his 20th Masters.

The last time we saw Woods he was withdrawing from the Farmers Insurance Open in early February after missing the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He did not qualify for the WGC-Cadillac at Doral and sat out the Honda Classic and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, saying his game was not tournament-ready and not prepared to compete at the highest level.

Begay said Tiger is steadily improving, but hinted the problems were not confined solely to the golf swing. Tiger's mental game needed to be retooled too, he said.

“I don’t know that there was any one thing specifically that you can say a player looks at, but it’s simply something that a player feels when they step on the golf course," Begay said. "They feel like they can go out there and basically defend themselves. If a player feels like they can do what they want, then they go out and play.”

    No way, no how.

He's not taking his lame game out to that course. It's not very forgiving.

He is/was on P.E.D's no doubt about it. Since the PGA started testing and his wife tried to beat him with a club he has done very little.

The PGA are still trying to hold on to Phil Mickelson and Tiger for media and ratings. They have no big players who win tournaments time after time. They put their stock in Rory McIlroy, but he get hot for a short bit and then goes cold for a while missing cuts. Phil and Tiger are old broken down guys, sports wise. It's over.

The great thing about Tiger and Phil was they would go for it on holes and make it exciting in every tournament they played in. They never laid up in a last round if they could win. Today, guys just lay up shot after shot going for the paycheck. It gets boring.

he's not ready and coming back just because it's a major is a bad idea.

Yeah he might've been, but golf is not a sport where PED counts at all. It's like a bowler being on PED's. The worst golfer on the tour can take PED and not even make a dent in his earnings or even win a low level tournament. It's all skill and raw talent. PED's only serve to heal a body problem quicker, in golf.

Tiger will play. He's too much of a narcissist not to. He wants to win more majors and letting a Masters go by would eat him alive. The better question would be if he'll quit that tournament too.

So wrong. These guys are driving balls 350 yards now.

If you ever saw tiger in person you might be surprised. The guy was jacked... Had the body of a nfl safety.

Not wrong here. Iv'e seen him play in person a few times in recent years and the kid was dominating fields when he was 17-18 yrs old when he weighed a 140 lbs, wet. He won the Masters by 12 strokes when he was about 21 years old. He was not on PED's. It's a skill and talent game. Not a muscle and power game.

John Daly drove and and still drives the ball farther than Tiger. Did he win like a freak or even come close to dominating like Tiger did?

I disagree, the reason tiger won early was his distance off the tee.. He was on every green in two... Most golf people think he was on juice at least midway thru his career. Trips to Canada and south Florida..... If he didn't think it helped, why do it?

Yes, he had amazing talent too.

No way. Hockey, football and baseball is the PED sport to use for performance and advantage. Tiger was not of PED's when he was young. He had no body problems. He weighed nothing. Golf is a total skill and talent game like bowling. Again, guys have out drove him and would miss cuts. Why aren't the worst golfers taking PED's and winning every tournament and millions then?

You're saying he was a bulked up HULK here when he dominated in the late 90's early 2000's? Not an ounce of muscle on him. C'mon.

the glory days of golf are over...remember how many people were taking up golf during Tigers' heyday...now, not so much. I can only name a few younger players on the pro circuit now, most that I remember are old school like Singh, Watson, Faldo, Norman, etc

Tiger employed blood spinning as a recovery aide. All those years butch had him posting hard on that left knee took its toll.

Yeah Tiger set off a surge in the sport and in ratings. It's sadly died off. So many guys on the tour now and no one can dominate for the media and PGA to cling on to. They are still trying to ride out Phil and Tiger.
