I keep hearing news about smartwatches but I only see the Sony one selling right now. I hear Samsung will have one soon. http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/accessories/smartwatch/
Honestly, they are pretty gay and faggit BUT if I can fit a decent amount of MP3s on one and Bluetooth to some stereo buds I'd consider it.
I hate smartphones and have been waiting for a true smartwatch for years. It has to be a "Dick Tracy" type smartwatch though and not this dumbed down wrist-link to your smart phone that I keep reading about.
Aren't all of these watches just adjuncts to an existing smartphone to show stuff like notifications for social media, weather, messaging and phone calls, but the smartphone is still the thing doing the heavy lifting and data storage? More of a "I'm too lazy to grab my phone out of my pocket, unlock it and go to the notification center and then app" type deal?
i think we wont live long enough to see that: battery technology is no where good enough to support it. if we figure out how to do broadcast power we might be able to do the dick tracy watch but with current battery and radio technologies your watch will have to contain a small lump of plutonium to power it.
its considered disrespectful to pull out your bberry or iphone during meetings. smart watches will take the place of pagers: you can look at them like you do a wristwatch without appearing bored or uninterested in the meeting topic.
