He followed up with a sarcastic joke, "I meant #thedress What were you thinking I meant?" referring to the blue, black, gold and white dress debate from Friday.

These comments follow Shatner tweeting yesterday about all the reports that mentioned the actor staying in Florida for a fundraiser rather than fly to Los Angeles for Nimoy's funeral. Shatner was doing charity work for the Red Cross and fired back at critics who had blasted him because of his absence.

Shatner is all about Shatner. I like him but he absolutely refuses to be upstaged by anyone else, including a dead Leonard Nimoy. He's always been that way and it's just a part of who he is.

Exactly. My grandmother stopped going to funerals when she was around 80. She said it was just much too heavy to deal with at that point. Saying goodbye to lifelong friends is no walk in the park, especially with your own mortality in mind

Funny, for a guy that's 83, he sure does fight like a 13 year old girl on twitter.

But I digress, Bill's first Tweet about the death set the stage for the bashing he's now getting... would you miss your Brothers funeral??? I wouldn't.

You realize they get appearance fees for this kind of shit don't you?

Lets look at the sacrifice ol Shat made instead of attending the funeral of his lifelong friend and coworker.

The theme for this year's gala was "Around the World in 80 Days," and guests arriving at the spacious oceanfront property were greeted with a line of flags from different countries. Attendees at the $1,000-per-plate function enjoyed a cocktail reception, during which they dined on hors d'oeuvres from 20 countries around the Mar-a-Lago pool while the Palm Beach Symphony performed. Wayne Newton arrived from Las Vegas and entertained guests with some of his signature songs, including "Danke Schoen," which he recorded when he was 21 years old.
Shatner, who’s starting to look like a Leprechaun, was described by a spywitness at the shindig as “pretty blasted” while another said Shatner couldn’t have been more of a gentleman.

The actor and Priceline.com pitchman picked attending the booze-soaked Red Cross Ball (Top shelf is always free in Palm Beach!) at Donald Trump‘s private club in Palm Beach over a quick return to L.A. to attend long-time Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy’s funeral, who died Friday.

I’m told Shatner, who came with wife Elizabeth, acted like a bit of a sourpuss to some guests, especially as the night wore on till well past midnight. At times, Shatner was seen shying away from well-heeled supporters who tried to grab selfies with him. Eventually, he was overheard tell his missus: “Let get the f*** out of here!”

In contrast, Mr. Las Vegas, Wayne Newton, worked the crowd with a smile to raise money!

And that seemed strange since Shatner is the one who claimed “charity work” was the reason he couldn’t pay homage to Nimoy.

Shatner is a megalomaniac, but he is 83 and perhaps jumping on a private jet at 1am to travel across the country its not the smartest thing to do. He waited for a regularly scheduled commercial flight the next morning. I'm sure he went right to the Nimoy household to pay his respects.

The Post never uses the actors real name if they can just call them by the role.
