Since I returned from vacation a couple of weeks ago, I've had issues with the latest Windows 7 update.

Yesterday a Microsoft tech attempted to resolve my conflict resulting in Windows crashing.
She took control of my PC via remote.
    I gave her permission.

Don't know what she did but now Windows keeps attempting to repair damaged files.
Stops, says be prepared for several restarts
& this might take over an hour.

So far it's taken 16 hours and the process simply repeats itself upon reboot.

She said I should contact my PC manufacturer to run the Windows backup from their end.
My PC is a year & a half old - still under warranty.
Today I have to contact tech support for my PC to see if they can help me back up important file & then restore my backup without my losing various music editing programs I use almost daily.

I will be plowing the fields of oblivion for the nest 48 to 96 hours.
If I never see you all again farewell.
    This has been fun.

It starts to make me wonder if MS isn't doing this deliberately?? They want everyone to switch over to Win 10, so a bad update could easily accomplish this with Win 7 and Win 8.

    Details??

I have a perfectly good working Win 7 laptop right now that has some good programs on it, I would hate to see it get updated and watch it go down. I only turn it on when I want to update my i-pod.

Here's what you do: Go to http://www.apple.com/mac-mini/ and see if they have any refurbished models -- they've buried the refurb tab, but it's worth checking. Anyway, buy yourself a Mac mini, it's a little 7.5" square Mac that you plug your own monitor, keyboard, mouse into. VOILA!!! You are now a Mac user. I haven't "upgraded" the OS since Snow Leopard, but from what I see and hear regarding Windows 8 and 10, you're better off living without Microsoft. Figure maybe $800 tops for the loaded version. Live long and prosper. I was once a hardcore PC guy, built my own computer back in the day, etc, but after working with Macs at work for a few years when it came time to upgrade, it was obvious that I wanted a Mac and not a PC.

Yeah, 7 was the only good os they ever put out.
But I read that they will continue to support 7with upgrades for another 5 years.

My ipad does about 90% of what my computer does so I rarely need to log onto my computer.

Yeahbut... running "Boot Camp" on Macs I've never seen such snappy performance out of Windows. Now, when you're talking about running actual real-world apps like Illustrator and Photoshop, Macs positively shine. And they'll also run borefest type of bean counter apps like Word or Excel...
