Evolution is not a straight line. Humanity has attempted to fuck itself many times in the past and will attempt to do so in the future as well.

I guess so, but this graph is horribly depressing to me.

History shows it could tip either way...who knows. Not exactly sure why people seek religion.

No, like a muslim leader once said when speaking of the higher reproduction level of muslims, "We'll take over the world without firing a shot"

I don't think that graph illustrates what you say it illustrates. Association with a religion does not equate to fervor for it.

    Yep, totally meaningless graph.

In order to predict the future, you first have to invent the technology that will shape that future.

In the 18th century, Rev. Thomas Malthus predicted human population would be limited to 1 billion, based on the agricultural methods of his time. His model of the future left out the single most-predictable variable, human innovation. People making radical claims about overpopulation, climate change, peak oil etc. are in the tradition of that charlatan.

Christians may fire the first shot and quite a few more, as a matter of fact we ( the USA) are all ready killing Muslims daily

Brainwashing reinforced through out ones childhood and regularly re-instilled by traditions like Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, Passover etc. As well as zealots pushing their agenda during times of crisis.

Be that as it may, that doesn't mean we should ignore climate change altogether betting on "human innovation" to save us at the 11th hour.

That's my sole hope is that they may still have many adherents, but to keep up with the times, the emphasis on the stone age misogyny, homophobia, and wanting to convert by the sword bullshit is lessened a great deal.
