The underground line/tube that started it all. Planned from the 1830's, the London Underground opened in 1863. It carried gas lit wooden carriages. Opening day, the subway carried 38,000 people. The opening lines only served between stations Paddington and Farringdon. The first electric locomotives were used in 1890. Today the Underground serves 270 stations. *By the way, sadly there's NO FREAKING WAY could we have the cars today like they had in the 1920 picture.* 1860's 1890 1900 subway station and cars.
