most of these places are shitholes that have absolutely no clue as to how to run a restaurant. Ramsey can remodel the place and revamp the menu, but there's nothing convincing me that people change their stripes on things like serving rotting food, going canned or shitty service.

The frightening thing is that these are the places that they found. What about the 99.9% of the others out there that aren't featured on the show.

I actually reported a little restaurant/bar to the Board of Health. A few years ago, I'd go to watch Sunday football. The place was lively, the food was good, and it was clean.

Last season, I went once. The men's room had two of three toilets broken (literally shattered), no running water in the sink, no towels or hand dryer, and there was a giant puddle of urine on the floor. It was obvious that the bathroom had been torn up for a long time.

I don't understand how they didn't just shut it down immediately.

No because most of the time the owners are total retards.
They will forget everything Ramsey taught them by the end of the week and go back to running a shit hole.

Whatever morons show up at that place to eat on the initial test night when they see how the place functions deserve whatever intestinal blowouts they get.

I love that the owners, despite all evidence to the contrary (no diners, bad reviews online, massive debt) are convinced that they know what they are doing and it's everyone else that is wrong.

The one that closed by my house had customers there every time I walked by and still closed. I didn't even know it was on the show until a year later.

Depends on why they suck. If it's bad food, but a clean place with good service that can be remedied. But a filthy place with bad habits of keeping rotten food? That's not changing. Cleanliness is engrained into you at a young age and the owners who are filthy before he got there will quickly let the place revert to shit after he leaves. If cleanliness is the issue I'm not going there.

Kitchen Nightmares and other shows like it have scared me away from eating at certain restaurants. When they have a menu with 100 items on it, they are just reheating your food, something you can do yourself at home at a fraction of the price. That is not taking into account if they store and package the items properly.

Seeing the cleanliness of some of these places (especially when they know cameras and Ramsey will be looking) are deplorable.

When I go out, I stick to mostly burger places. Places that bring in the meat fresh and use fresh cut potatoes.

I had a bar 10 years ago as a side project. It was a monumental pain in the ass. Taxes monthly literally took all the profit. Every weekend it was payroll and accounting. Abc and cops. I brought my dog in once and some guy called the health department. I asked the cops to stop pulling people over in my parking lot and i ended up with an abc fine. upstanding chicks giving bjs in the ladies. Guys threatening me. It was a whole scene.

Most of the drama on those Ramsey shows is fake or over blown, you need to take everything with a grain of salt.

They also did a show from the City of La Verne a few years ago, I never knew of the restaurant they featured, but the shopping center where it was on my daily commute to work. I recognized everything they showed outside of the restaurant.
