The kitchen manager at my work has left food in the warmer overnight 3 times in the last few months. Yesterday I put 3 racks of ribs in the smoker as I was getting off work and he "forgot" them and had to throw them out.

So anyway I told the other cook in the kitchen and he said I should tell the owner. What would you do?

Kill the owner. Seize control of the shop. It was your fault.

Stay out of it. This will come back on to you most likely, and then the kitchen manager will be gunning for you. Now, if he served the food to customers, then you say something.

Worry about your own performance. Let your manager earn his pay: he should know what is going on without resorting to snitches.

My employer's code of conduct constantly tells us we have to let compliance know when a co-worker is breaking the rules. Has anyone ever done this? Not to my knowledge. I'm pretty sure the person who fucked up, and the person who had the time to watch and rat out the asshole would both be out of work. If you have the time to worry about what someone else is doing, you aren't doing your work.

I will say one of the owners found the food the first time and he was pissed.
I really don't feel comfortable going to the boss. The kitchen manager is a good guy but he is just kinda lazy. Oh and the other cook doesn't like him so it almost seems like he is trying to get me to do his dirty work.

    Stay out of it.

If he were a criminal I'd say something.

    But he's just a dummy.

Shean, you need to follow the hierarchy of the kitchen. Being a busboy means you can't snitch on your superiors. :grad:

Oh and the plot thickens. The other cook just told me he got a new job. So I asked him if he takes is he going to work both. He said well that's what I'm trying to figure out.

Then he proceeds to ask me for the millionth time if I want to work the pass. I don't that shit isn't fun. I'm thinking he wants me to rat out the manager get him fired and have me replace him at the pass. So he has someone to cover his other shifts.
