Watching with my two boys. Haven't seen the show in years. The entire episode is about a little black girl puppet learning about how awesome and unique her skin is. All the other brown people (a regular black, an Indian chick and some kind of miscellaneous brown guy) all bust into song. Brown is strong, it's what makes me great, etc.
It's insane. It's so over the top that it seems like a nazi propaganda movie. Im waiting for the white and the Jew puppet to come out and start opressing everyone.
    Wah. That is all.

When did you grow up with the show?
For me it was early 70's.
Racial stuff was treated as "Everyone's Different".

Perhaps. I youtubed some old school episodes. Even in the 60's there were no white puppets singing about how awesome it is to be white.

I'll be 40 this year, so late 70's, early 80's. I actually think the show is good because they do show retarded kids or handicapped kids and my sons will ask what's up with them. They don't have any songs about how awesome crutches and wheelchairs are though.

I feel much better now. Hate on brother.

I had a semi-related but lesser thing at work last year. It was "womans heart health month". I asked when the mens month is. The ladies and half men in HR kept getting nervous when I asked. It went on for a while and got....uncomfortable for them.

They are just preparing kids for what our country and the world will look like with mixing of all of the races when they grow up.

Notice even right-wing women don't stand up and call "bullshit" on all this.

So, Sesame Street goes out of it's way making millions of white kids feel bad about being Caucasian?

Can we get Kermit to sing "It's not easy bein' white".?

Kermit the Frog used to sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green." back in the day. "Sesame Street" has always encouraged being proud of whatever color
you are, and the acceptance of others who may be different. Maybe they were just more subtle about it, earlier on.

It's not called, "Daniel Carver's Sesame Street," ya know!

Ultimately I don't really care, because the kids have no attention span. We moved onto curious George. A frog singing about being green is different from a group of blacks singing about how brown is the best and makes them strong. You'll never see the white puppets spouting that lesson. It was such over the top pandering that I found surprising.
