If you're still using Torrents for anything not in the public domain or released by the owners in the wake of Copyright Trolling, you're a damned fool. Having said that, Google has an automated service that they allow content providers to use for issuing DMCA takedowns, and it's being used with little oversight and reckless abandon. Microsoft actually ended up taking down links for Open Office: http://torrentfreak.com/microsoft-c...130814/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

By the way, some content providers upload their own content so they can engage in Copyright Trolling: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...irm-that-prenda-steele-planted-porn-torrents/

You guys better watch out. This is way against the TOS here and I believe Dawg is pretty serious about it because he can be held liable.

No, these are news stories that I've posted, asking what is going on with Google and DMCA takedowns isn't illegal or against TOS either. USA Today just ran a story about Google taking down scores of sites due to baseless DMCA claims (like Microsoft and Open Office, for example).

The Prenda thing isn't related to that at all, I've started threads breaking it down before but everyone hates them, so I won't get into all of it again. Just go to ArsTechnica and read up on them if you're interested.

I stopped seriously using Google when they started filtering based upon religious concerns. I don't know what happened to the guys who run Google, but they have aggressively become everything they originally hated: they enforce arbitrary boundaries of "good taste", according to Snowden (who Obama has verified has valid info) they willingly provide the NSF with backdoors into allegedly private data, and recently they have informally killed off Google Labs: when Google hires an employee the employees are supposed to be allowed to work 20% of their paid time (or one out of 5 days) on projects of their own choosing without having to obtain managerial approval or supervision. Google Labs i.e. Translate, Alerts, Reader, and AdSense (their most profitable development), etc. were all developed out of this policy. Recently Google senior management decided that employees now have to have managerial approval and supervision for all work effectively killing off all independent research projects, because they need to maximize profits. What happened to "Do No Harm"?
