so im on vacation this morning, and just sitting in a coffee/donut shop minding my own business when the dude next to me buys a bucket of donuts (it's a made-to-order donut place) and pays for it in quarters... I didn't think much of it until he went to leave and got escorted out by a couple uniformed pd officers. When I asked the shop owner what was up, it turns out the guy was a local deputy sherrif that monitored all the businesses late at night. One of the businesses kept coming up short on the register so they installed cameras, and caught the deputy lifting rolls of quarters. The donut place we were in was also suspicious of him paying for everything in quarters, as were a lot of businesses... Long story short, this dude was 2 years from retirement and had a huge family to support. He likely won't move away and start over because he was born here. Who throws their life away for a few rolls of quarters?
