I was waiting for them to surprise everyone and shoehorn Wolverine in there at some point. God forbid there was an Xmen movie without wolverine...
Yet they neglect Colossus- one of the best and underappreciated Xmen ever. They only did him justice in a non-Xmen movie.
I want to like this trailer, but the Apocalypse makeup won't let me do it. He looks like a character in the cirque de solei
so unrealistic and not believable!
She's now leading an army? She ruined that trailer. I think she can act, but she's not that effective in this one from what I can tell. One of the things that made X-Men appealing to me was that it was more cerebral than the typical blockbuster. This one seems to be very cookie cutter.
Her scenes in the trailer took me out of it. They must think she's the draw for this movie.
I'LL go as far to say -- god forbid there's an X-Men movie WITHOUT Magneto, Professor X, and friggin Mystique???? How tired of THOSE 3 are you by now - as well as the time traveling and flashback tropes with it?? The X-verse has like 200 characters they just don't spend any time fleshing out because of Singer's Hollywood pedo-gay-cabal biases.
What APPEARS to have happened to this franchise - is they J-LAW'd it - making MYSTIQUE a much more seminal central character to the X-verse than she ever deserves to be - BECAUSE of Jennifer Lawrence's star power in the last few years. Mystique was just a Mutant Brotherhood character - who never got THIS much real estate.
She wasn't a huge star during X-Men: First Class, and blew up since then. Then Singer/Desanto etc started writing these films around HER, and Mystique - which is ridiculous with all these characters to choose from that are YUUUUUGE in X-Men lore.
Really, CYCLOPS should be getting her screen time, and criminally underused throughout the FOX X-films. Don't get me started on how half-assed Colossus was used and portrayed. But the Deadpool film thankfully remedied that and showed Singer how it's done.
Bryan Singer doesn't even seem to put any concern emphasis on proper accents for the X-characters. You'll hear no Russian accent from his his version of Colossus, no African accent from Storm, no British accent from Olivia Munn as Psylocke, no Aussie from Pyro, etc etc etc.
Sick of this tweens-in-matrix-costumes bullshit. Give them back to Marvel so they can do it right. You had your time Singer. Enough already.
I wanna see the Andrew Kevin Walker version!! His script was awesome. Take a look:
You gotta remember with the self indulgent Bryan Singer - ALWAYS thinking with the "Apt Pupil" in his pants.
He's a big Hollywood pedo - so he tries to tweak, cast, and script these X films - to make them AS young and as twinky possible.
Oh, I know. Creepy pic though. Not helped by the fact he's dressed like a priest. Always thought he was an overrated director. Was it the directing that made Usual Suspects great or was it the script? Plus, anyone who'd abandon the X-Men franchise for Superman (who he also turned gay and creepy) was never fan enough for the job in the first place.
That's the problem. Suddenly Mystique is the star of the movie? Give me a break. I'm not a comic fan, but have always liked X-Men. This trailer really turned me off. Go back to the original movies. Mystique was a great supporting character who didn't have much to say. She'd just change her appearance and kill unsuspecting people. Now she's rallying the troops and training them how to fight.
He doesn't give a rat's ass. But I bet if you put a gun to the head of Joss Whedon he would admit rather having done the X-Men than the Avengers.
Agreed. He had to literally be shown the X-verse from like Tom Desanto from A-Z before he shot the first film.
I remember him saying the other producers forced him to watch the X-Men animated series from the 90s to try and cram for the films - instead of trying to read the old books because he knew NOTHING and it was too daunting.
