Yahoo! News has allegedly published a review of Rihanna's new album early, discussing its tracks and their tone, apparently without actually having heard it.

The drafted article, a screen grab of which has been retweeted over 7,500 times over the weekend, wouldn't have been so bad if it had just left space for the author to add in things like guest features and distribution method (iTunes, Spotify etc), but it appears to actually discuss the album's content too.

Who needs to hear it? It will sound like all of her other songs. She's super gorgeous, that's all that matters.

That's not a review at all, it's a canned intro--She's also been releasing bits an pieces of some songs and discussing the tracks, so the stuff they prepared in advance is already out there

Shitty music, Heavey effects and auto tune, auto tune, auto tune. Accurate review....no need to hear the music.

Yeah, though it's not really ethical to write about how the album "pushes the edge in [x] song" and features an "edgier, freer Rhianna" before you've heard it. Just shows how bought and paid for this mass media all is lol.

Reviewers have been bought off for ages, look at all the game reviews. COD gets consistent 10/10s

The problem is the huge conflict of interest, because these sites are selling advertising to the same products they're reviewing. So they would have to give a bad review to the people paying them.

It's even worse in gaming than music though.

Everyone thought that Internet News would somehow be more legitimate than printed journalism, because the newspapers are mostly owned by big corporations. However, to sell newspapers, the readers have to believe in your integrity somewhat. On the Internet, there is no price tag, so the corporations can run amock. So "news" and "advertising" are now one.

Almost all internet "critics" are bought and paid for. I'm sure its a decent movie but I don't think Creed is "The best movie of the year' like some critic claims in the commercial.

Yeah, I just saw a commercial for the TV show "Into the Badlands," which is pretty much unwatchable, and they touted a Yahoo.com review that said it was the most kickass show on TV.
