Per Rotoworld: Yankees acquired LHP Aroldis Chapman from the Reds in exchange for RHPs Caleb Cotham and Rookie Davis, 3B Eric Jagielo and 2B Tony Renda.

Great deal for the Yanks, will an interesting dynamic with the pending litigation over the domestic violence accusations. The K-Rod fiasco was an embarrassment to the Mets, if they can avoid that type of circus, this deal pays instant dividends. That bullpen puts the "Nasty Boys" to shame, at least on paper.

High quality get for them, though I thought they needed more help in the rotation than in the bullpen.

Shitty thing is bullpens are more important than ever. Today's starters struggle to get past the sixth inning. If the Tigers had any kind of bullpen, they would have won a few championships during their run. Three Cy Young starters didn't matter when the bullpen couldn't hold the fort.

Allegedly there was a backstory to the K-Rod/Met fiasco?
His father in-law deserved a beat down for something...never heard what it was though.

At first I was excited, but then I remembered it's still going to be Bullpen Musical Chairs Girardi at the helm :(

They need bats. Greg Bird isn't going to save the team by himself

The father-in-law was a known jerk. He did something after a game but you can't hit someone.

Ho hum. The Mets saved Cuddyer's $12 mil because he retired and invested $5 mil in Alejandro D'Aza. Who needs Cespedes?

    God I hate the Wilponzi's.

So true. A waste of great pitching and good seasons with those bullpens.

From a Reds fan point of view it makes me wonder what the Dodgers deal was, had to be better than this.:suicide:

Dodgers agreed to move Julio Urias, a very solid pitching prospect, for Chapman, prior to the news of a potential suspension. Would have been a much better deal but it was a house of cards from the get-go.

They figure they have good young pitching that's cheap so let's copy the A's early 2000's formula of going cheapo on everything else.

I wanted the Yankees to get chapman when he first left Cuba. If he isn't suspended their bullpen next year may be the greatest ever.

I just puked a little in my mouth, Urias is probably the second best pitching prospect in the minors behind Giolito. Hell, I would have taken De Leon and a couple B hitting prospects instead of this deal.

I really like the new Yankee philosophy of not overpaying free agents, locking them in to long term contracts and trading their youth/prospects that got them in to this mess to begin with. However after some long term contracts expire after 2016 (Sabathia 25mil, Tex 22mil, Beltran 15 mil) my fear is that they will jump right back in and spend all that money again.
However that bullpen will be fuck'n awesome to watch in 2016

Yankees probably wouldn't have done it for DeLeon with the potential suspension and presence of two closers to start with ... Reds clearly just wanted to get rid of Aroldis, this wasn't the first sketchy incident with this guy either.
