Right now, I am listening to Led Zeppelin Osaka 1972, "Whole Lotta Love" is a half-hour, "Moby Dick" is a short but sweet 15-minute drum solo, "Dancing Days," "Misty Mountain Hop," "Dazed and Confused" is 28 minutes long....

Yesterday it was their 1970 show at LA Forum . . .

I got a mess load of Miles Davis boots too, spanning his while career, with emphasis on his 70's output.

I have a ton of boots for Hendrix ....

Steely Dan has used Jon Herington on tour guitar for years. I'd like to get some newer ones. That guy is amazing.

The story: On 01/01/89 the band Ministry played a non-tour one off show in Seattle, Washington. It was scheduled as a warm up show before recording their next album, and also so the 2 newer key members of the band (former members of popular Seattle band The Blackouts) could finally play a show to their home crowd.

I understood that they were miserable when they arrived at the nightclub (a former rollerskating rink). Al J. had his own bus because, I was told, no one could stand being around him off of the stage.

There was no openning entertainment. It was loud. There were sound problems on a number of songs.

I remember there being quite a few people tripping out because they were expecting to see the new wave disco band of 2 years earlier and not the heavy electronic fusion of dance, punk, noise, metal. I was already into the whole industrial electronic music scene and knew what to expect.

It was an incredible club show that was unforgettable to be a part of and experience. Near the end of the concert Chris kept calling my name to come up to the dj tower because he wanted to show me the set up. I took my eyes off the band and went up there to inspect the goods - nothing special. The 2 house mics sound system and a tape recorder. But, I was fucking stoked!

Afterwards Scruff gave me the tape. I listened to it a few times following the show, but it needed help.

Holic told me he was at this show too. That's what reminded me about it.

I have some audio production experience. So, a couple of weeks ago I used it to rescue the music of that night from the vault. The concert lives again and can be enjoyed by anyone wishes. You know what to do.

    Final notes:

The levels are a bit hot throughout. As with many bootlegs, you can hear the DJs talking during parts of the recording. That stuff is to me like easter eggs.

    Enjoy!

I really like Zeppelin, but a half hour version of "whole lotta love"...nah, I'm good. Always hated 70's music for that streak of self indulgent, drug induced , toodling around extended jam session bullshit. Maybe that's what drew me to punk and thrash, nice tight set, and get the hell out.

I know exactly what you mean. I like a good guitar solo but keep it reasonably short. Drum solos are the worst. It's time to leave when the drummer gets wound up.

I still have my Dead tape racks

I made a shitload of tape covers and sold them 5 for a dollar at shows. They were more like currency than getting actual money. 5 tape covers got me a lot of LSD, advantage me :)

I get tired of Zep's long jams, but sometimes it worked, like in Nagoya '72 it worked.

If anyone is interested in The Cure @ The Whiskey 1981. I can put that one up later tonight. It sounds great. I gave it the digital transfer and remaster treatment a while ago too.
