They have Dr Drew on and the subject of Sal's out-of-body experience comes up. Dr Drew asks if Sal is coming in to the studio, you know, the PERFECT opportunity for comedy gold as Dr Drew tears him a new one and Sal sits there and says "yes...but" --- and what does Jon Henn say? "NO". Opportunity for good radio BLOWN.

I wonder if Sal was chomping at the bit in his office, all pissed that he isn't allowed in there any more. I know I'm pissed about it.

What a stupid selfish decision to ban all staff from the WUS

They were probably all on ISDN so there was nowhere for him to "come in".

Pretty safe bet nowadays except this was a live show day and Sal had been it studio earlier.

I think Drew believes in out-of-body experiences. Isn't that part of contacting the dead, ghosts or whatever tom foolery that shithead, dingbat of a wife of his is consumed with?

I love when he gets the 13 and 14 year old's all emotional as they contact their dead parents with James van Prauugh or some other dickbag on Loveline with Dr. Drew & Not-Adam-Carolla.

I used to like the wus. I even liked it on non show stays because the staff always ended up telling stories I never heard before...now its completely unlistenable every day. Why bother?

No, he doesn't believe in them. He said Sal's experience was a night terror, which makes perfect sense, I used to have them and it's exactly like Sal described

I have to weigh-in on this. The WUS used to be a helluva lot better. It's a bit tedious with all the haters, constantly ragging on Jon Hein...but the substance of what they're saying is basically true. Hein has become such an ass-kisser and has totally lost any semblance of objectivity. It seems he too has gotten the memo and now just parrots the party-line. This doesn't bode well for the future of the show or Stern at SIRIUS/XM in general, if I'm reading the situation correctly. Perhaps the handwriting is on the wall.

I will say that everyone here makes it out to be significantly more egregious than it is (in my opinion). Howard has definitely lost his Mojo...and the transparency and honesty seems nowhere to be found. It'll be interesting to see what the next few months bring. Somewhere along the line, someone he respects (perhaps Kimmel) has got to be candid with him and address some of the issues that have been raised here.

Until then...we'll just have to suffer through it. Anything else, Robin?

Howard and Marci Turk making sure to rebrand all aspects of the show so that he's a family friendly interviewer with an edge. In reality is a wigged homo with bad surgeries.

They need to stop with the guests - we hear enough of them on the regular show! Without Gary ( IMO) the WUS has no substance.. Gary was always good for stories of insight from the old days... things behind the scenes that Jon doesn't know.... Unless Gary is back for the whole show & the guests are eliminated, I just can't listen!

"Hein has become such an ass-kisser and has totally lost any semblance of objectivity"

When was he not an ass-kisser? He seemed always bedazzled in Howard's presence even when he was a guest. Too get on Howard's Show he had to stand in line with all of the other kisser uppers.

Gunky has taken his show in a direction that would make it seem like he really has no clue about what made his show great. When I listen back to shows during his "Wild Man of Radio" era, the mid 80's to the mid 90's, he really was an obnoxious, uncharismatic prick. I'm always struck at how irritating he was to listen to, maybe because, as we know now, that was never really his TRUE personality. As the show "evolved" he hit on the winning formula, acting as the ringmaster of a 3 ring circus. He was exquisite at developing (and exploiting) unknown talent, just about everyone on his show had no business being in any aspect of show business on their own. The show was at it's best on days when the gang would just BS about their weekends or some upcoming event they were all going to. Listening to the era of Jackie, Stuttering John, KC, and later Artie was radio gold and really appealed to the audience's desire to be part of their crowd. The more back office guys, sales guys, and wackpackers getting involved, the better it was to listen to for me, not the fucacta "A-list" celebrity interviews.

Somewhere along the way, Gunky got it in his head that no one in his audience cares about anyone on the show except for him, so the new objective was to streamline everything; cast, crew, and even the extraneous shows were eliminated. I remember him talking a few years ago about an episode of Back Office Radio where Jason and Will were talking about David Heydt. Gunky was like..."Most of my audience thinks Robin over there is really Robin Givens and you guys are talking about DAVID HEYDT!!!!!" At that moment it really hit me how "out of touch" Gunky is. He really doesn't truly know his show or what it's selling points are. At this point, and even more so today, his show is a NICHE show listened to by a few hundred thousand, not the MILLIONS and MILLIONS he brags about. It's a niche show and most of his listeners listen everyday(due to the multiple replays) and are up to date with every character and storyline. He still thinks he's on terrestrial getting 20 million listeners who average 18 minutes per day.

The only reason, at this point, to listen to the show through a Sirius subscription is because you love the WORLD that Gunky has created. THAT is his selling point! We needed MORE shows on the channels with cast members and side characters, MORE goofing on porn stars and wackpackers and wacky listener games. His mandate after moving to Sirius should have been to be the Ring Master of a much larger and elaborate ring. His show, and his channels are a steaming pile of shit these days because Gunky thinks that his personality (and long, boring celebrity interviews) are the selling point. He's dead wrong about that and nothing drives it home more than the current state of the Wrap Up Show. Or maybe Gunky realized that the Wrap Up show was a better listen than his own show for the last few years and did what he did to it. That wouldn't surprise me either.

It's most likely there's no money in the budget to have Sal or any of the other staff member's on the WUS.

Drew is a jackass with opinions, not actual medical science.

He's been proven wrong so many times its pitiful.

I love Drew on the show. He actually made it listenable despite Jon and not having Sal in. Unlike everyone on the staff who think they are experts, Drew actually is one. He speaks from experience, clinical evidence and prevailing medical community opinion.
