With the new movie "Concussion" coming out we take you back when NFL Football was played by men. Prior to the lame "Come On, Man" ESPN had a feature on MNF pre-game show narrated by Tom Jackson called "You Got Jacked Up" playing the greatest hits of the week. Many of these would now result in fines or suspensions but this is the way football was meant to be played. It's a dangerous sport and it always has been. If you play it you have to live with consequences. Check out the #1 hit on Jon Kitna. No way you get away with that one today.

:secret:The NFL made ESPN drop the segment when the first concussion studies were coming out.

Getting "jacked up" is part of the game. Otherwise you may as well make 'em play flag football.

The NFL sped the game up artificially with a slew of rule changes since the 1970's. Better to revert to those rules than to artifically sissy up the game with rules to prevent hits.

I love football but find myself drifting on all the blah-blah-blah before and after the game (dude talk), but I have wondered what happened to the "Jacked Up" segment many times.
It was one of the only things I found amusing that wasn't a bunch of blowhard ex players/coaches spewing their speculations.

The game is becoming softer. Thanks to science and some really fucked up retirees. :c

I wonder how long before football isn't really football anymore...
