    Holy fucking shit.

    http://overlawyered.com/2016/06/new-jersey-mom-sues-target-hazardous-giant-red-balls-outside-store/

"A New Jersey mom is hitting Target right where it hurts with a $1.6 million lawsuit that claims her son was seriously injured while playing on one of the large, red, concrete balls that are situated outside many of its stores.” [New York Post]

    More
from B. Hill, in comments: “And then someone will sue Target for removing the balls and not having devices in place to prevent cars from crashing through the front doors.”

I read further, and the kid did fuck up his elbow pretty bad. They put a rod in it and he might have permanent damage but its not worth 1 million bucks. Parents at fault.

I always thought someone was gonna sue cause they went up and tried kicking it thinking it was a big red ball. Hope these shits lose and target spends money making their lives miserable. Personally I couldn't give 2 $hits about target, glad they failed in Canada.

    Looking for a settlement.
Injured cute kid never plays well with a jury.

Target has to carry all sorts of insurance for on property injuries.

It's actually not that bad a claim. It's called an "attractive nuisance." If they want to protect themselves from that kind of suit, they should have rubber mats under them, just like playgrounds do. Same reason you have to put fences around pools (whether full or empty) on your own property and unlike little shitbags who crack their heads open skating in your empty pool while you're out earning a living, this kid wasn't even trespassing.

Forget target, if you let this idiot win this lawsuit it will set a precedent for all kinds of frivolous lawsuits. This woman is at fault for not keeping her kid off the balls, they are there to prevent cars smashing through the front doors. Why the fuck would you want her to win no matter what you think of target? Seriously people like this deserve to lose and pay for targets lawyers so every scam artist isn't wasting our courts time.

Sorry, but it's a bad design because it's foreseeable that kids might climb on them. It wouldn't take too much imagination to make them safer, such as by simply adding two smaller balls on top like a red snowman. It would serve the same safety function without presenting a danger to kids and their stupid parents.
