I'm not talking about a paper route, i'm talking about getting a check with taxes taken out.

For me it was 1983, i was 13 years old. I got a job dishwashing after school til about 11 at night making 3.25/hr. I would spend most of my check on a carton of cigarettes and tapes ie Dio, Priest, Maiden, Crue, Leppard, etc. That was the only way you got things in my house was if you worked for em. I'm sure most of you were handed everything in life.

My first real job was in 1977. I was a freshman in high school. It was at a little shop making cardboard boxes. We would get these huge pallets of cardboard delivered, then we would use band saws, table saws, and scoring machines to cut the big sheets down to the size we needed to make whatever box was being made that day. I don't recall what I made as far as pay goes, but I 'm sure it was just minimum wage. It was cool because 3 of my closest friends worked there with me. We worked after school so the boss would leave us alone. We'd get high and do stupid shit. It's a wonder none of us cut off a hand or a finger.

I did that from 81-82. I always though most of those women knew I was looking up their dresses when I was cleaning their windshield and they didn't mind at all. lol

My first real job was at Schlotskys making sandwiches. On my second night I got really scared because it was just me and one other girl. There's a lot of bad people in the area so I quit. I went to work at Walmart instead.

I was 16. I was a janitor at this small two story office building about a mile from my parents' house. It was a cool job because i got to be outside a lot and it wasnt super hard work. I got 4.25 an hour I think, in about 1983 or so. I was a little pissed because up until then I would cut lawns for money (no paycheck or taxes) and during the summer I'd make about a hundred bucks a week working basically two and a half days and then i feel like my paycheck was not any more than that and i was working 40 hours a week. Thanks, Obama!

Junior year of high school I got a job selling balloons at the Brookfield Zoo. I had to stand all day in the summer in a little 5' x 5' shack and fill up mylar balloons and tie them up. Not the best job but not the worst either. On my breaks I got to go behind the scenes of a lot of the exhibits and that was pretty cool.

My brother ran a TV and appliance store in the small town in Iowa I lived in. At about 7th grade I started coming in after school and working on weekends helping unpack stuff, get it on the floor, help with deliveries, clean up etc. I even did sales of the small stuff.

My first job that I reported to the gov was at a city park that had rides. Summer after 9th grade. More girls my age worked there than guys. You had to know somebody to get the job and my cousin knew the manager's son. It was fun but I might as well worked for free as much as I got paid.
