Thinking about taking a short trip up to NC/TN in the fall. Anyone been to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge? The rep that comes ot mind is tacky, but I don't mind that if it's otherwise pleasant. I looked around and it seems way more developed and nicer than when I went 40 years ago as a kid.

I don't drink, btw. Does that eliminate most of the reason for going?

I live about an hour and a half away from there. There is quite a bit of touristy things to do from dinner shows to the Ripleys Aquarium. Lots of good places to eat too. You'll be hitting the area at a good time as its not as crowded then and the leaves will be turning. The Smoky Mountains are beautiful and you'll be catching it at the best time of the year. I'd go for it.

The Smokey Mountains are a beautiful summer trip. Highly recommend. Decent whitewater in the early summer

I was at Jekyll last month. Great place. I'll be scouting real estate and communities while up there in the area between it and Asheville so I wanted to work something fun in for a day.

It's pretty cool......Try to get in the motel that straddles the river that runs through town.........GB has tons of bars in walking distance.....A main drag.......And all of the attractions that families are interested in are down the road about 10 miles in Pigeon Forge..............
