Frank Miller gets huge props for writing but I think his art is more than adequate.

He's gone a bit wacko, but damn straight he's a legend. His art is amazing in my opinion, although I think he's gotten equal accolades for his writing and his illustration. His early work on Sin City was totally groundbreaking and just beautiful chiaroscuro linework.

It is colored now (not in the bad way in which people would describe black people in the old days)

That's awesome! I remember having a RIFTs book, and also lots of Robotech RPG manual books. I got them just for the art, not because I was into RPGs, haha. The biomechanical woman looks like the work by Hajime Sorayama who did airbrush work of sexy robots, and I think I might have gotten some weird boners looking at them around age 12 or so. He also did straight up porn paintings for Penthouse et al, lots of bondage stuff and women pissing. All healthy normal things

I was more into comic books and the Robotech cartoons so I loved the drawings of robots and aliens and ships and shit. Oddly enough I'm friends on FB with one of the interior artists from this. Also the artist who did the Dark Horse Aliens book, Mark Nelson. I should share that stuff too.

Some of J.C. Leyendecker's work. One of my favorites.

BattleTech had great art in their books as well. Not sure who was first Robotech or BattleTech. They definitely stole each others designs every once in a while.

Japanese anime robots I always liked Shirow's Appleseed/Ghost in the Shell the best.
