Is one of the questions, "why is OP too stupid to tag his thread?"

got mine today, havent read any of it yet....ill let u know asap. Being a fan who started listening in his golden age circa the mid 90's and sadly a person who hasnt evolved at all, Im sure ill be quite dissapointed.....after reading the Hollywood Reporter article, I almost wish he would retire tomorrow.

    He sure does mention Artie...

Seriously the book is mostly transcripts of interviews and there are few interviews from Artie’s tenure and the first time Artie speaks up in an interview this is what it says Artie Lange (former Stern Show Staff Member). I haven’t found anything in the book where he mentions Artie as a person or anything about the Artie situation.

If that blurb is an example of the writing in that book then, WFT? Fucking horrible.

Is there actually any content in the book? Is this not a naked cash grab?

I'm only about 20% done but so far it seems like very lazy book writing. There are just transcripts of inverviews we've already heard with a page here and there of stuff Howard wrote sprinkled in between. The big revelation is in the intro and it's pretty much Howard overreacting to having a benign cyst on his kidney which was successfully removed in day surgery.

It's not really a "cash grab".
...but it does bring up the question of money/profits....and just where might they be headed/going.

Almost everything in the opening chapter has already been revealed in all the interviews during the promotion. He does admit that doing America’s Got Talent was mostly motivated by his desire to change his image. Howie wanted more celeb interviews and Gary couldn’t book them because of Howie’s reputation. He figured America’s Got Talent would get the world out that he’s not the guy that used to smear mayo on stripper’s bare asstreaks and toss baloney slices to see if they’d stick.

Didn't he always get big celebs coming on the show? Didn't McCartney come on before he did AGT? Billy Joel?

When you have 20 million listeners, you sell product. That is all the inducement celebs need to come on the show.

Not if the publicists steer them away in order to "protect" their clients.

BTW.....the publicists know the actual audience numbers...terrestrial radio and satellite radio etc.

I have heard of many times that certain big names have wanted and have been willing to
meet with HS and to appear as a guest on his various shows etc....but their people and
publicists have lied to them concerning conflicted schedules and other reasons to keep them
    from being booked with HS.
I've heard of celebs being told that they were rejected by HS...while no actual contact was ever made.

A big booking hitch in the past has been the negotiation process concerning topics to be discussed and/or
topics to never even be brought up.
