Netflix officially green-lit Season 4, which will be the final season. They’re doing the Breaking Bad gimmick where the season will be longer (14 episodes) and released in 2 half-season blocks. Article doesn’t give a date for when it will be coming out.

The saga of the Byrde family will soon be coming to an end after Netflix renewed Ozark for an expanded fourth and final season.

The drama, which stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney and Julia Garner, has been renewed for 14 final episodes with the season split into two seven-episode parts.

Season 1 was good. Season 2 was bad. Season 3 was not watched because of Season 2.

Now that I think about it, I have not seen a single Netflix original series that was good in season 2.

Season 3 started out corny but got better and was awesome at the end. I also hated season 2 for the most part and it almost stopped me from starting 3, but there was nothing else really on to watch so I kept with it

Ozark should have been 6 or 7 seasons. They could keep leveling-up like a video game a couple of more seasons, at least, before an apocalyptic final season.

Netflix seems to cut off their series a couple of seasons short.

I’d rather a series cut it short (assuming the producers know and have time to come up with a proper ending) then have a show that just sputters on for years with no endgame like The Walking Dead or 90% of network television

Its worth watching, but it is so overrated. Somehow they lost the whole point of the show which was to capture the feeling of how weird the ozark region is. The last two years could have been anywhere. And the Mexican drug cartel angle is just dumb. On second thought, the show actually kinda sucks.

I agree. TWD is a slog, and network sitcoms are trash, with zero character development. On a show like “Friends,” you get a throwaway joke about Joey liking sandwiches in season 3, and by season 6, Joey’s entire personality revolves around him liking sandwiches.

By contrast, “Mad Men” is the most rewatchable TV show I’ve ever seen. There are so many layers to it; you keep seeing new things on every rewatch. There is a definite story arc, and the characters adapt and evolve throughout the run, and you go on a journey with them.

My problem with Netflix’ original programming isn’t that they don’t give carte blanche to show runners to keep churning out the same drek season after season, like the 25 seasons The Big Bang Theory got on the air, but that they don’t commit early enough to a show with promise to foster a long-term plan. The current model is “produce a season that could stand alone if it had to, pray it’s picked up, come back 18 months later, produce one more season, I don’t know, there may be a season 3.” Series rarely get six seasons, and too often, they’re surprised by having to wrap it up at the end of season 3 or 4, so there’s rarely a well thought-out plan.

that’s true. At the same time, if you know you’re going to be on Netflix (or most other networks to be honest ) you should be producing a series where each season is like a novel/movie/mini series that may or may not eventually get a sequel, not an ongoing soap opera. Ozark for example more or less ended this season on a cliffhanger which would suck if they didn’t come back back.

Cobra Kai is going to netflix now as well and my only concern is how quickly Netflix cancels their series.

I've stuck with it on high recommendations, but it's highly overrated.

Season Four will have the rinse and repeat cycle of some decision made, someone gets pissed, someone gets hurt or killed, new issue arises.

If you’re not enjoying it you should just tap out. I’ve never been afraid to dump a show in the middle of the run if it’s not keeping my interest: BigLove, TWD, Boardwalk Empire, just to name a few.

I enjoyed the show, but I can't stand the wife. Something about her makes me want to fuck her to death. Hate fucking.
