Would a bad oxygen sensor cause a car to sputter like its starving for fuel ?

I would be more inclined to think fuel filter. Be careful, something like that will end up throwing a phantom code Which just means the sensor is reading off scale and not necessarily a bad sensor.

I know this car and had an opportunity to buy it in the early 90's. It was abandoned in the row of chicken coops where I was a renter, a real gasoline alley type of place. I guess the owner died because decades later the landlord sold the car through Hemmings.

The motor was blown, it had a 9" Ford rear, it had a cage that was perfectly installed as to not damage the mint interior. I think it may have even still had the radio.

That may be a restoration of the original paint cause it was horribly checked from age, but that is definitely the car.

A link to someone else looking for it back in 2002.

For those who like diamonds in the rough, the barn finds area is a top draw. We know Corvette guys are sometimes in their own world, but how about a real Modified Production ’62 with a worked Ralph Truppi/Tommy Kling small-block stuff in for good measure?

In running shape thanks to the crew at New York’s Corvette Repair resto shop, the original paint, period decals, vintage speed parts and more made this one a keeper.

Wonder if they'll try to buy him a ride. Lots of money invested already.

He may have had other reasons but he said he didn't want to take the ride from someone who earned it. Straight up decent move.

Few today have heard of Bob Osiecki, but he was a pioneer in both NASCAR and drag racing. Gunning for Bill France’s $10,000 prize for the lap record at the new Daytona International Speedway, he obtained a 1958 Kurtis-Kraft roadster, a Pontiac-powered Firestone test mule built for Ray Nichels, and wedged in a supercharged 413 Chrysler V8 enlarged to 460 CID. A tall vertical fin and inverted wings were intended to keep Mad Dog IV, as Osiecki named it, from taking flight on the high banking. On August 28, 1961, with drag racer Art Malone at the wheel, Mad Dog IV ran 181-plus mph, setting a lap record that stood for years.

'83 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit Estate, paint it black and it'll look like a bone wagon.

My first thought was "OK which drag racer went to Indy?" Art Malone going in circles at Daytona, cool. The car looks like it should have Marcellus and Borsch on the nose.

Also interesting is that they used a 413 wedge instead of a 392 hemi as a basis for the super charged engine as I would think there would be more super charged speed parts available for the hemi, the same for the 413 if it were to be naturally asperated.
