    2 real reasons
    1. we understood the language and took over all the union rank and file members (cop, fire, trades)
    2. We don't advertise. We don't have pizzeria's to hang photo's of our mythical Italian heroes.

    Nothing personal. Its the business.

Because there never has been an Italian Mob.
They are God fearing, hard working honest Americans in the garbage and construction services.
    Sometimes even pizza.
    You got that?
    I thought so.

The biggest and most successful Irish gangster of all time was actually Joe Kennedy father of JFK and RFK. He made a ton of money during prohibition and even more afterwards by owning all the major whiskey brands and distribution once it was legalized

This is a great Michael moment but a continuity mistake in the movie. He'd already been beaten by McCluskey, yet his face is perfectly fine. This was clearly tacked-on and someone forgot to match Pacino's face to the scene.

You sound like one of my friends growing up, we nick-named him "Pino-boy Gambino", because of his (alleged) mob ties.

The Italian-American mob is largely an import from Italy and much more specifically, southern Italy. It was a heritage immigrants brought with them and a system even the abused understood.

There were plenty of Irish gangs but I don't think it was as ingrained in the people.

Yes La Cosa Nostra is a much bigger deal back in Italy than people know with major influence on both the government and the Vatican

The Irish mob was mostly a bunch of drunken hooligans
