This man knows what he is talking about.

I would tend to disagree with your take on downtown though. I have stayed there 6-7 times in the past 5 years and always had an amazing time. The atmosphere has changed a bit, not as much riff-raff, cheaper deals if you are on a budget, hotels have upgraded etc. I also like the local bar scene. I would recommend the Atomic http://atomic.vegas/ and the Bunkhouse https://bunkhousedowntown.com/

Not to mention the best pizza in all of Vegas Pizza Rock https://www.pizzarocklasvegas.com/ owned by Tony Gemignani 13-time World Pizza Champion

Vegas is one of my favorite places to go! We saw the "O" show (Cirque du solil) both times we went to Vegas. It's Amazing! Great places to eat (You Need to go to the PEPPERMILL!!!!!). LOVED the mall. And I saw the Titanic Exhibition with my Mom, which I HIGHLY recommend to Everyone!!! It was the highlight of my trip. AND I stayed at Trump Hotel last time, which was very nice.

    We love downtown.

We're from LA and Hollywood so the sleaziness doesn't bother us at all.

There's usually good bands playing on Fremont street for a good part of the night and there's a definite energy of the place on the weekends.

    It's a fun vibe.

Plus, you can still find lower minimum tables down there.

We usually drive over from LA on Saturday morning, early, and hit the Peppermill before we head to our hotel.

Then we hit it on Monday for lunch before we leave town.

    Best Bloody Marys in town.

If there’s something you don’t like about staying on the strip - distance between casinos, etc. - consider downtown. Easy walking from place to place.

I'm going in a week, staying at Aria. I'm not rich but want to treat my wife. I'm going to have to walk somewhere else to gamble I fear since the table minimums will be out of my price range. What's the best circ show right now? I'm going to try the $20 tip trick too, I'll report back.

Cirque Du Soleil Zumanity at MGM is great. A little risqué but tastefully done your wife will like it

Mystere is ok but looks a little dated compared to their newer shows

I hear ya... we had friends years ago who would only stay at Fitzgerald's... met them for .25 roulette and $1 beer at the El Cortez. You gotta see it once. It's just not my thing. Stevens is building a new place...first new hotel downtown since the 1980s.... I might have to check that out when it opens.

My wife has a weird rule which has grown on me over the past 34 years... "Go some place nicer than your house for a vacation" Not that I live in a dump, but the bathroom in my last suite at the Aria was bigger than my entire bedroom at home. Had the "Howard" Toto crapper with the water jets and blower and everything. His and Her walk in closets. Steam shower. Giant tub. Unreal. I mean, if the toilet is not hidden in a nice room with a door, are you really on vacation? ; )

If you like the Beatles, Beatles Love at the Mirage is a must see.
We’ll go again next time we’re there. There’s so much going on during the show, it’s impossible to see it all in one viewing.

I forgot about that new build going on down there, that will be something to see.

I've been many times. First year was 94 maybe, when Tyson was released from prison and fought at MGM. I've stayed at Excalibur, Mirage, Bellagio (when part of Mirage Resorts and after w/ MGM owning), THEhotel (now Delano), Golden Nugget. Bellagio was by far the best. Lots of change over the years I've been. Always a good time in Vegas.

    dood:cig:
that place became a dump by 1995
and that was the last time I stayed there when they had the lowrise buildings. I was working a gig in Vegas and requested to stay there because it was right next to the old CrazyHorse2 stripclub.
:slick:Holy shit! Good times bro! :thumbup2: I used to just climb over the wall that seperated the hotel from the club and just do a drunken crawl back to my room! LOL! I think the rooms were way under 50bux.

Im actually surprised Vegas still has cheap rooms, thanks to local casinos.:sun:
